Act 1 Scene 1:
three witches meet and discuss when they shall meet Macbeth.
Scene 2:
At a camp near Forres, Duncan meets his sons, Malcolm, Donaldbain, and Lennox the thane. The three men bring in a bleeding captain who tells them about the war with Norway. He tells the king that during the war Macbeth was brave. After the king sends the captain away, Ross and Angus enter to tell the king that they have won the war, and that the Thane of Cawdor was a tratior because he worked with Norway. Duncan decides to give Cawdor's title to Macbeth.
Scene 3:
The three witches are waiting for Macbeth. Macbeth and Banquo meet the witches. The first witch calls Macbeth as the Thane of Glamis, which he use to be before the war. Then the second witch calls him the Thane of Cawdor, and the third calls him king. The witches then tell Banquo that he will not be king, but his sons will. The witches then disappear, then Ross and Angus come to Macbeth to tell him that he is now the Thane of Cawdor. Macbeth and Banquo are both shocked at how accurate the withches predictions were. Macbeth promises to let things happen naturally.
Scene 4:
Duncan hears of Cawdor's execution. Macbeth and Banquo then arrive at the palace. Duncan thanks Macbeth for being brave. Duncan then says that his son, Malcolm, is to be the Prince of Cumberland and to be the next king. Macbeth sees that Malcolm is blocking his path to the throne and preventing the witches' prediction from coming true. Macbeth begins to want to become King more and more, and in order to get it he will have to be cunning and betray the King. He leaves before the other lords and the king in order to prepare his castle for Duncan's arrival, to set him up.
Scene 5:
In Macbeth's castle Lady Macbeth reads a letter from him. His letter tells her of his meeting with the three witches and their prediction. Lady Macbeth decides to help the prophecies come true because she thinks that her husband cant accomplish it by himself. She is then told that the king is on his way and that Macbeth is riding ahead of them to get there first. When Macbeth arrives his wife tells him that she will make sure he becomes king. She swears that the king will be dead by the morning and tells Macbeth that she has everything in control.
Scene 6:
Duncan, Malcolm, and Donaldbain arrive at Macbeth's castle with Banquo. Lady Macbeth then welcomes them to her home. they greet one another and pass compliments to each other. Duncan then asks to be taken to Macbeth.
Scene 7:
In the castle, Duncan eats and Macbeth leaves dinner to be by himself. Macbeth is doubting whether he should kill Duncan. Lady Macbeth enter and she asks him why he's left dinner. Seeing he is scared, she tells him that he is a coward if he doesn't go through with the plan to kill Duncan. She tells her husband how and when to kill the king. After this talk Macbeth agrees to kill Duncan that night.
